Commitment to Web Site Visitors
Catholic Order of Foresters (COF) is pleased to
provide information through CatholicForester.com and
CatholicForester.org
Web sites to all members and guests. We seek to
make our
sites as interesting and helpful as possible
while respecting your privacy. COF has the right
to use "cookies"* only to
obtain non-personal information to
improve your on-line experience. For example, we
track the total number of visitors. We do not
associate cookie information with personal
information.
*
pieces of information that a Web site transfers
to an individual's hard drive for record-keeping
purposes.
COF only gathers personally identifiable data,
such as first and last names, addresses, and
e-mail addresses, when voluntarily submitted by
a Web site visitor. For example, COF may collect identifiable information to respond to an information request
concerning our scholarship or tuition assistance
programs, to get feedback on our site and
products, or to enter you in one of our
contests. This information is used solely by COF
or other entities that provide technical or
fulfillment services to COF for internal
purposes, such as improving the site or
fulfilling requests. Personal information
is never sold or transferred to third parties.
COF does not send unsolicited e-mail.
We
may offer links to other sites. If you visit one
of these linked sites, you should review their
privacy and other policies.
We
are not responsible for other companies'
policies. COF reserves the right to use or
disclose any information as needed to satisfy
any law, regulation, or legal request; protect
the site's integrity; fulfill your
requests; or cooperate in any law enforcement
public safety investigation.
Our Privacy Commitment to
COF Members
In
response to the privacy provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley
Act of 1999, Catholic Order of Foresters makes
this privacy statement available to all members
of record.
You have elected to join Catholic Order of
Foresters (COF) fraternal benefit society and
have provided COF with certain nonpublic
personal information, such as name, age,
residence, marital status, and Social Security
number.
If
you elected life insurance coverage, COF was also provided with employment
and medical information and authorized to obtain
information regarding your health history, life
style, avocations, and other personal
characteristics. Based on this authorization,
only the minimum amount of information necessary
to underwrite your application has been
gathered.
As
a fraternal benefit society, we are dedicated to
protecting members' privacy. COF has
no affiliated financial institutions or third
party non-affiliates that have access to your
nonpublic personal information, except pursuant
to your written authorization.
COF does not sell member name or
address lists to any vendor of goods or services.
Should we need to retain any other organization
to assist us with our operations, that
organization will be required to comply with the
same privacy standards as COF.
This privacy policy extends to nonpublic
personal information of former members who no
longer have insurance coverage with COF. Access
to members' records is limited to High Court
employees who work on your member files.
However, if required by civil or criminal
litigation or audit to disclose information on
your records, we must comply.
COF will strive to maintain the highest
confidentiality levels for your nonpublic
personal information. We require High Court
office employees to maintain protection of such
records and information. Employees understand
that improper disclosure of nonpublic personal
information is a serious matter with severe
consequences.
Finally, please be assured that information in
our insurance files will always be available to
our members for modification, correction, or
change when COF receives appropriate
notification.
Youth Privacy: Our Commitment to
Parents
COF is very
sensitive to privacy issues. We are proud of our
longtime commitment to members and extend
that to our on-line guests. We are especially
careful with any communications with children
and families. That is why we may offer future
features, such as games and coloring books,
which do not require a child to provide any
personal information.
Limited
personal information is collected from children
and youths (for example their e-mail addresses)
to respond to on-line requests. To illustrate,
we may collect a youth's e-mail address in order
to send information about our TAP or REAP
programs, but we promptly delete the address from our system.
Personal
information collected from children and youth on
this site is used solely by COF or other
entities that provide technical or fulfillment
services to COF for internal purposes such as improving the site or fulfilling requests.
Personal information is never sold or
transferred to third parties.
We do not
associate cookie data with personal information
about children. COF will not condition a child's
participation in any on-line activity on the
child's disclosure of more personal information
than is reasonably necessary to participate in
that activity.
We urge parents
to regularly monitor and supervise their
children's on-line activities. From time to
time, it may be necessary for COF to change this
privacy policy, so we suggest that you
periodically check here. Rest assured, however,
that any changes will not be retroactively
applied and will not alter how we handle
previously collected information.
