Fraternal Benefits

Catholic Order of Foresters (COF) is a membership-based organization with participants actively involved at every level – local, state, and national. Each regular member holds a COF life insurance policy or annuity.

Benefit/Description

Adult Courts
COF carries out its commitment to caring through a fraternal network of more than 400 local courts. Courts welcome all members to participate in social, educational, spiritual, and benevolent activities. Members also have the opportunity to take part in COF's representative government, hold office, and vote.

COF Adult Photo Contest©
COF sponsors a poster design and photo contests for youth members. Cash prizes are awarded. Read more >>

Catholic Forester©
All members receive Catholic Forester, a quarterly magazine filled with product features, member stories, and articles that affirm fraternalism.

Church Loans
COF partners with local parishes to provide financial support. Loans are made for many purposes, including new buildings or expansion and renovation of existing structures.

College Scholarships
Twenty awards of $5,000 ($1,250 each year for four years) are available to qualified graduating high school seniors. Applicants must be insured COF members in good standing at least two years prior to applying.

Educational Awards
Forty $600 one-time awards distributed annually to qualified members attending or planning to attend an accredited college, university, trade, or technical school. Applicants must be insured COF members in good standing at least two years prior to applying.

FirstVantage/Pathways Program©
Parish schools and religious education programs may take advantage of this program as a means of funding quality Catholic education. Catholic Order of Foresters donates $25 ($10 in AZ) to a Pathways-participating Catholic school or religious education program when parents purchase COF's FirstVantage low-cost starter insurance for their children. Life Plans Long Term Care Provider Pathway©
Members having a need for long-term care services may use this program to access a national network of more than 7,500 participating credentialed providers. Members may receive discounts from 4 to 32 percent off retail rates on long-term care services such as assisted living or skilled nursing home facilities, home health services, hospice care, adult day care, and durable medical equipment.*

Living Benefits Accelerated Benefits Rider
Available at no charge on most COF life policies, this Accelerated Benefit Rider allows members facing terminal illness, with one year or less to live, access to up to 75 percent of their insurance proceeds. Beneficiaries receive the remainder at insured's time of death.

COF Matching Funds Program©
At state and local levels, courts possess the potential to earn and donate funds to people and organizations in need. Through this program, courts may receive up to $1,500 for pre-approved fundraisers.

Newborn Infant Benefit
COF offers this no-cost benefit to COF member parents whose child dies within the first 60 days following birth. Parent members may receive a $2,000 death benefit. Both parents must have been COF members for one year, with each carrying a minimum of $2,000 permanent life insurance.

Orphan Benefits Program
COF provides this free benefit to natural and legally adopted children orphaned by COF-insured parents. Deceased parents must both have carried a minimum of $2,000 permanent life insurance or a $500 annuity and must have been practicing Catholics living together at the time of the first parent's death.

Orphan College Scholarship
COF provides an award of $4,000 ($1,000 each year for four years) to qualified graduating high school seniors receiving the Orphan Benefit.

Religious Education Assistance Program© (REAP©)
Two hundred $50 awards made annually to COF students attending a Catholic religious education program, kindergarten through grade 12. Eligibility immediate after becoming a member.

ScriptSave™ Prescription Plan
Members, not covered by another prescription plan, can use this discount program to help reduce the high cost of prescription medication. Offered free to all COF member households, there are no fees to pay or forms to complete. Visit ScriptSave site. Use the group ID #234.

Tuition Assistance Program© (TAP©)
One hundred $250 awards made annually to COF students attending Catholic school, kindergarten through grade 12. Eligibility immediate after becoming a member.

Youth Courts
Youth membership is automatic upon purchase of a term or whole life insurance policy. Young members to age 21 may participate in a variety of educational, athletic, recreational, and social programs that offer leadership opportunities and positive ways to stimulate spiritual, moral, and physical development.
